Caturday

As the school year winds down (or up, really-- EXAMS!) I have been reflecting on the major things that this year has brought. One of those things is, to me, a true sign of adulthood- getting my first pet. The one I'd be responsible for. Completely. Not just the pet that you PROMISE and SWEAR that you'll take care of EVERY! DAY! DUH! and then Mom ends up scooping the litterbox, cleaning the cage, and feeding crickets to the tree frog. (Thanks, Mom!) :)

So here is Latte, my first ever cat, my little scaredy cat, during her first week with me (yes, she has thankfully settled in):

Actually hiding in the litterbox! Hiding in poo = scared!!

Praying for invisibility in the bathtub- poor baby!

Filing herself away on the shelf- it actually took me a while to find her that morning!

Wedging herself behind the computer.

Oh, the memories... And just for a big dose of cuteness, here is a pic from the foster mom of when she was little/just rescued:

So cute it hurts. It truly does!

Friday Foto

Here are my favorites for this week:

The headstones are so beautiful

I have an elephant painting in my room and simply adore it.

Couching with SARK

Full disclosure: Yes, I am mentioning this in order to enter into a contest, but my promotion is sincere!

I absolutely love author SARK. If you don't know about her yet, well, I hope you soon will, mainly because I hope she takes over the world with her happiness and creativity! Her books absolutely rock.

Anyway, she is doing this new thing called Couching. Click the link to learn more, but basically you pay to have a nice little chat session with SARK herself over the phone- a pretty once-in-a-lifetime awesome opportunity! I'll be saving my pennies and hopefully participate myself...

In the spirit of SARK, here's hoping that today, if only for one day, you can feel like a succulent, wild woman. :)

"Me" Time? No, "We" Time.

So, take a look at this end...does anything about it bother you?

The copy reads: I TAKE MY FAMILY EVERYWHERE I RUN.
I hear from them at least once a mile. Luckily, T-Mobile proved my signal strength, street by street, before I signed up. Which is important, if I get a crisis call about a missing binkie. When it comes to my coverage, T-Mobile works great.

My thoughts: Holy God. She is ALWAYS "on call" for her family. She clearly gets no "me" time. No personal time. No time to breathe. I am not a mom myself, but I've known plenty of moms to say fairly confidently that they all need a break sometime. Who wouldn't? And a clearly (or so I thought) perfect time to be alone is on a nice jog.

And the specifics of this ad bother me to no end. A call AT LEAST EVERY MILE. Grrrrrreat. Just keeping running, lady. Like, out of the state.

Additionally, it's a crisis call about a missing "binkie" (is that the standard American lingo now?). Of course it's not a crisis call about an international financial transaction or someone from the office needing her expert opinion for a report. DO NOT GET ME WRONG: There is nothing wrong with stay-at-home-moms/full-time moms/motherhood, etc. etc. I am just mad that this ad is seemingly mocking the stresses of her every day life while simultaneously burdening her with them.

I don't think I have evaluated this ad at all as eloquently as I had planned. Dontcha hate it when that happens?

But, in any case, this lady needs to take a hint from Forrest Gump: JUST KEEP RUN-NING. And eat a lot of chocolate.

New Gems

So, with all of my internet surfing (is that what they still call it??) of late, I've found some more awesome websites that I'd like to share with you, dear readers:

First up, a website that's just like me: very vital and to the point. ;) Click here and you'll never have to call and ask your mom again. ;)

Then we have a site that is semi-funny but really shines because of its URL. See for yourself: http://www.peoplewhositinthedisabilityseatswhenimstandingonmycrutches.com/ I can't believe that wasn't taken!!! ;)

Next, The Belly Project. I love that this site shows natural women and what bellies look like after they've been through things (pregnancies, etc.) Are you gonna add yours to the mix??

Last, but certainly not least, jump on the feminism + health bandwagon and check out this site that shows one woman's cervix through each day of her cycle. C'mon, don't be shy- knowledge is power!

Let me know if you have some other gems to share!

Belated Caturday

Although the feline children certainly love each other, I love when they have these "opposite" moments:

Well, looks like I'll have to stop visiting RightHand on the weekends if I am ever going to get these weekend posts up in time! (Don't worry, baby- only kidding...Especially now that your bed is HGTV-ready and you'll have a fancy new apartment with a shiny movie theater! ;)

Here are my favorites from the past week. Go here and find yours!
